  • 16 cups apple cider (1 gallon)
  • 6 whole cloves
  • 5 star anise
  • 3 strips lemon rind (2-inch long)
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1/2 vanilla bean
  • 2 cups pomegranate juice (or 2 cups cranberry juice)

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a large pot over medium high heat combine first 5 ingredients (-cinnamon sticks); bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and add the vanilla bean; cover and simmer for 15 minutes. Remove from heat and let stand at room temperature for 1 hour or up to 4 hours. Discard solids. Stir in juice.

  • Step 2: Reheat over medium heat (or put in slow cooker) until warm.
