How to Make

  • Step 1: Heat oven to 400

  • Step 2: Blend 1/2 cup sugar and cornstarch in a medium saucepan

  • Step 3: Add in blueberries and lemon juice

  • Step 4: Cook, stirring constantly until mixture thickens and boils. Boil and stir 1 minute

  • Step 5: Pour into ungreased 2-quart casserole pan and keep hot in the oven while topping is prepared

  • Step 6: To make topping, combine flour, 1 tablespoon sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. Add shortening and milk, Cut through shortening 6 times and mix just until dough forms.

  • Step 7: Drop dough by the spoonfuls onto hot fruit

  • Step 8: Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until topping is golden brown

  • Step 9: Serve warm with cream, whipped cream, or ice cream
