  • 1 1/3 pound apples (4 medium cooking apples, peeled, cut into fourths and cored)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg

How to Make

  • Step 1: In 2-quart saucepan, heat apples and water to boiling over medium heat, stirring occasionally; reduce heat.

  • Step 2: Simmer uncovered 5 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally to break up apples, until tender.

  • Step 3: Stir in remaining ingredients.

  • Step 4: Heat to boiling. Boil and stir 1 minute.

  • Step 5: Cover and refrigerate until serving. Store covered in refrigerator.
