Step 1: Cream together powdered sugar, butter, vanilla, almond extract, and egg
Step 2: Stir in flour, baking soda, and cream of tartar until you have a smooth dough.
Step 3: Cover and refrigerate for 2-3 hours.
Step 4: Divide dough in half, set one portion aside and divide the other portion into at least 5 equal portions, tinting each one a different color
Step 5: Roll plain portion out to 1/8 inch thick and cut out desired shapes
Step 6: Roll out colored portions and cut out different shapes to fit on top of each plain cookie, like stained glass
Step 7: Bake 7 to 8 minutes, or until golden brown on edges
