Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

How to Make

  • Step 1: Thoroughly mix butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla

  • Step 2: Add flour, salt, baking soda and nuts. Mix well

  • Step 3: Divide dough in half and chill 30 minutes

  • Step 4: Shape the dough into 3 rolls, each 14 inches long. Use 1/2 of the dough for the first roll, 2/3 for the second, and the remaining 1/3 for the last roll

  • Step 5: Roll each in green sugar to evenly coat

  • Step 6: Chill 4 hours

  • Step 7: Heat oven to 400

  • Step 8: Cut rolls into 1/4 inch slices

  • Step 9: Place 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheet

  • Step 10: Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until light brown on edges

  • Step 11: Immediately remove from baking sheet

  • Step 12: Stack 1 large, 1 medium and 1 small cookie together to form a tree, using decorator icing to hold them together. Top with a cinnamon heart "glued" in place with icing
