  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup all-purpose sugar
  • 2 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • Anise seed

How to Make

  • Step 1: Beat eggs and sugar until thick and lemon colored.

  • Step 2: Mix in flour. If dough is dry, add 3 tablespoons milk, 1 tablespoon at a time.

  • Step 3: Cover and chill 2 hours.

  • Step 4: Roll out dough 1/8 inch thick on lightly floured surface.

  • Step 5: Press well floured Springerle mold onto dough to emboss designs.

  • Step 6: Cut out cookies and sprinkle with anise seed.

  • Step 7: Let stand 10 hours to dry.

  • Step 8: Heat oven to 325.

  • Step 9: Place cookies 1/2 inch apart on ungreased baking sheet.

  • Step 10: Bake 12-15 minutes or until light brown.

  • Step 11: Immediately remove from baking sheet.
