Step 1: Heat oven to 350.
Step 2: Mix shortening, sugar, egg, molasses anise oil and water.
Step 3: Add in remaining ingredients, mixing well.
Step 4: Knead until dough is right consistency for molding.
Step 5: Shape dough by level teaspoonfuls into balls and place 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheet.
Step 6: Bake 12 min or until golden brown on bottom.
Step 7: Store in airtight container. For softer cookies, store with a slice of apple.
