Step 1: Thoroughly mix butter, sugar, eggs and flavorings.
Step 2: Blend in flour, baking soda and cream of tartar. If dough is too soft, chill 1 hr.
Step 3: Heat oven to 375 and divide dough into 12 equal parts.
Step 4: On lightly greased baking sheet, shape each portion into a rectangle. Using a wooden spoon handle, make a furrow lengthwise down the center of each rectangle.
Step 5: Spread 1 teaspoon jam in each furrow.
Step 6: Bake 10 minutes.
Step 7: Combine all icing ingredients in bowl, and mix till smooth. Set aside, covered, till ready to use.
Step 8: Cool on baking sheet 2 minutes, before removing.
Step 9: Cookies can be cut into smaller cookies if desired.
Step 10: When cool drizzle with icing.
