  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup peanuts, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup grape jelly (or favorite jam/jelly)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Combine shortening, ,peanut butter, sugars, and egg.

  • Step 2: Blend in flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt.

  • Step 3: Cover and chill.

  • Step 4: Heat oven to 375.

  • Step 5: Shape dough into 1-inch balls and place 3 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet, and press thumb deeply into center of each ball.

  • Step 6: Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until set, but not hard.

  • Step 7: Fill thumbprint with jelly.
