  • 1 1/2 cup icing sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cup pecans, finely chopped (optional)
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder

How to Make

  • Step 1: Thoroughly mix butter, sugar, and egg.

  • Step 2: Add flour, and salt. Mix well.

  • Step 3: Divide dough in half and mix cocoa into one portion of the dough.

  • Step 4: Chill 1 hour.

  • Step 5: On a lightly floured, cloth covered surface, roll plain dough out into a 16x9 inch rectangle. Repeat with chocolate dough and place chocolate dough on top of plain dough.

  • Step 6: Roll up tightly into a log, wrap and chill 8 hours.

  • Step 7: Heat oven to 400.

  • Step 8: Cut rolls into 1/8 inch slices (if dough crumbles when slicing, let warm slightly.

  • Step 9: Place 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheet.

  • Step 10: Bake 8 minutes.

  • Step 11: Immediately remove from baking sheet.
