How to Make

  • Step 1: Thoroughly mix butter, sugar, and egg

  • Step 2: Add flour, and salt. Mix well

  • Step 3: Divide dough in half and mix cocoa into one portion of the dough

  • Step 4: Chill 1 hour

  • Step 5: On a lightly floured, cloth covered surface, shape each each portion of dough into two, 2 1/2 inch wide and 16 inch long strips. Layer dough, alternating colors and press together

  • Step 6: Wrap and chill 8 hours

  • Step 7: Heat oven to 400

  • Step 8: Cut into 1/8 inch slices (if dough crumbles when slicing, let warm slightly

  • Step 9: Place 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheet

  • Step 10: Bake 8 minutes or

  • Step 11: Immediately remove from baking sheet
