Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon jam (or jelly per cookie)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Thoroughly mix butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla

  • Step 2: Add flour, salt, baking soda and nuts. Mix well

  • Step 3: Divide dough into 3 equal parts and shape into roll 1 1/2 inches in diameter and 7 inches long

  • Step 4: Wrap each roll and refrigerate 1 hour

  • Step 5: Heat oven to 400

  • Step 6: Cut rolls into 1/8 inch slices

  • Step 7: Place 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheet

  • Step 8: Place 1 teaspoon jam or jelly in center of half of the slices. Top with remaining slices and seal edges. Cut slits in top, so filling shows

  • Step 9: Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until light brown

  • Step 10: Immediately remove from baking sheet
