Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup dates or raisins, chopped
  • 2 egg yolks, slightly beaten
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped nuts

How to Make

  • Step 1: Combine sugar, flour, orange juice, butter and dates in a saucepan

  • Step 2: Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and boils

  • Step 3: Boil and stir 1 minute, remove from heat

  • Step 4: Stir half of the hot mixture into the egg yolks, then stir into the remaining hot mixture in saucepan

  • Step 5: Heat to boiling

  • Step 6: Stir in nuts

  • Step 7: Cool and use to fill 8 or 9 inch cake
