  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 1/2 pounds pears (peeled, halved and cored, 4 pears)
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup apple juice
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup dried cranberries
  • Salt, 1 pinch of
  • 1/2 cup pecan nuts (toasted)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 400°F. Melt 2 tablespoons butter in an oven -safe skillet over medium heat. Cook pears (cut side down) until beginning to brown, about 5 minutes. Flip pears over and transfer skillet to oven. Bake for 20 minutes, until pears are soft. Transfer pears to serving platter.

  • Step 2: Meanwhile, in a small bowl, whisk together maple syrup, cinnamon, vanilla, apple juice, brown sugar, cranberries and salt. Pour mixture into skillet and bring to a low boil. Then reduce and cook over medium-high heat, stirring frequently, until sauce reduces and thickens, 5-7 minutes. cool slightly.

  • Step 3: Pour warm sauce over pears. Top with pecans and serve, refrigerating any leftovers.
