Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 4 ounce cremini mushrooms (cut in half, about 1 cup)
  • 3 garlic cloves, peeled
  • 1 carrot (small carrot, trimmed and cut into 1=inch pieces)
  • 1 celery stalk, trimmed and cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 2 ounces yellow onion (1/2 small onion, peeled and cut into 1-inch pieces)
  • 1/3 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 pound ground beef sirloin (90% lean)
  • 1 tablespoon oil (canola oil)
  • 1 teaspoon salt, divided
  • 3/4 teaspoon black pepper, divided
  • 1/4 cup dry red wine
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (reduced-sodium)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Place first 5 ingredients in a food processor; pulse 3 to 4 times or until chopped.

  • Step 2: Combine panko, eggs,and beef; divide and shape into 4 (1 1/2 -inch-thick) patties. Heat oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high. Sprinkle patties with 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon pepper. Add to pan; cook 4 minutes on each side (patties will not be cooked through.). Remove patties from pan (do not wipe out pan).

  • Step 3: Add mushroom mixture to pan; cook 6 minutes. Add wine; cook 2 minutes or until liquid almost evaporates, scraping to loosen browned bits. Stir in ketchup, honey, and Worcestershire; cook 3 minutes or until slightly thicken. Reduce heat to low. Add patties; cook 6 minutes or until done, turning to coat.
