Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 packages (1/4 ounce) active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup water, warm
  • 1 1/4 cup buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 5 1/2 to 6 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • FOR ICING
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons grated orange peel
  • 4 tablespoons orange juice
  • 3 cups icing sugar

How to Make

  • Step 1: Dissolve yeast in Warm water.

  • Step 2: Add buttermilk, eggs, 2 1/2 cup flour, butter, sugar, baking powder and salt. Mix till smooth.

  • Step 3: Add enough remaining dough to make dough easily handled. Dough will remain soft and slightly sticky.

  • Step 4: Turn out onto well floured surface and knead 5 minutes.

  • Step 5: Beat icing ingredients together until smooth and creamy.

  • Step 6: Roll dough into two 12x7 inch rectangles and spread with half of the orange icing.

  • Step 7: Roll up, starting at the wide side. Pinch edge of rolls to seal well.

  • Step 8: Cut each roll into 12 slices and place in greased round pans.

  • Step 9: Let rise until doubled.

  • Step 10: Bake at 375 for 25 to 30 minutes.

  • Step 11: Frost with remaining icing while still warm.
