  • The following recipe serves 6 people.

Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 1/4 pound ground beef
  • Herb stuffing (Pepperidge Farm herb stuffing, 1 cup, or 1 cup fine dry bread crumbs = about 2 slices)
  • 1/2 cup beef broth (bouillon, or less)
  • 2 large eggs (slightly beaten)
  • 1 can (8 ounce) tomato sauce
  • 1 yellow onion, chopped (medium onion)
  • 3 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese (fresh)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green bell pepper (fresh)
  • 1 bay leaf (crushed, medium leaf)
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon crushed oregano
  • Sage (a pinch of - OPTIONAL)
  • Thyme, pinch of
  • Marjoram, pinch of
  • 1 teaspoon margarine
  • 4 parsley sprigs, chopped

How to Make

  • Step 1: Mix bread or stuffing and bouillon in large bowl. If using bread, add sage and oregano ad lib.

  • Step 2: Add all other ingredients except oregano and margarine. Blend.

  • Step 3: Form into a 9" (or larger) loaf pan and dot the top with margarine.

  • Step 4: Bake 1 hour in a preheated 350' oven.

  • Step 5: When half done, sprinkle on the oregano.
