  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 3 cups blueberries
  • 1/8 teaspoon pure vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1 lemon, whole (zest of 1 lemon)
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons lemon juice

How to Make

  • Step 1: Place the sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, salt, and water in a medium sized saucepan and stir until smooth.

  • Step 4: Taste to see if more sugar is needed and add more water if you want a thinner sauce.

  • Step 5: Stir in the vanilla extract, if using, and the lemon zest and juice.

  • Step 7: Let cool and then cover and refrigerate.
