  • 8 ounces fresh mushrooms (sliced)
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped yellow onions
  • 1 garlic clove, finely chopped (large clove)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup dry red wine (or Madeira)
  • 1/4 cup beef stock
  • Ground pepper

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a saucepan, saute mushrooms with onions in butter until mushrooms are tender. Add garlic, saute for about 1 minutes or until soft.

  • Step 2: Add flour, stirring until blended; cook over medium heat for 1 minute, stirring constantly.

  • Step 3: Blend in tomato paste and salt; stir in wine and stock until well-blended.

  • Step 4: Add pepper. Simmer 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  • Step 5: Adjust seasonings if necessary.
