  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 4 ounces unsweetened chocolate (melted)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  • Step 2: Grease and flour baking pan(s). 13x19x2, 2 9 inch pans, or 3 8 inch pans.

  • Step 3: Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl and mix well. Pour into prepared baking pan(s).

  • Step 4: Bake 40 - 45 min for rectangle cake, 30 - 35 for layer cake, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

  • Step 5: Frost with a frosting of choice.
