Step 1: Dissolve yeast in Warm water.
Step 2: Add buttermilk, eggs, butter, sugar, baking powder, salt and 2 1/2 cups flour. Mix till smooth.
Step 3: Add remaining flour, pecans, lemon peel, candied fruit and mix well. Dough will be soft and slightly sticky.
Step 4: Turn onto floured surface and knead 5 minutes.
Step 5: Roll dough into a strip 24x6 inches, then lengthwise into 3 24x2 inch strips and braid loosely.
Step 6: On greased baking sheet, twirl the braid into a wreath shape, pinching ends together to seal.
Step 7: Let rise till double.
Step 8: Heat oven to 375.
Step 9: Bake 30 minutes.
Step 10: Combine all icing ingredients, mixing till smooth.
Step 11: While wreath is still smooth, brush with icing.
Step 12: Decorate with candied cherries if desired.
