Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • FOR DOUGH
  • 2 packages (1/4 ounce) active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup water, warm
  • 1/2 cup milk, warm
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 4 1/2 to 5 cups all-purpose flour
  • FOR FILLING
  • 4 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 teaspoons cinnamon
  • FOR TOPPING
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 4 tablespoons corn syrup
  • 1 cup pecan halves

How to Make

  • Step 1: Dough: Dissolve yeast in Warm water.

  • Step 2: Add milk, sugar, salt, eggs, shortening and 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour. Mix till smooth.

  • Step 3: Add enough remaining dough to make dough easy to handle.

  • Step 4: Turn dough out onto a lightly floured, cloth covered surface and knead until smooth and elastic.

  • Step 5: Place dough in an oiled bowl, turning dough to coat in oil.

  • Step 6: Let rise, covered with a damp cloth, until doubled. approximately 1 hr.

  • Step 7: Combine all filling ingredients and set aside

  • Step 8: In a bowl combine topping ingredients. Spread in two prepared baking pans

  • Step 9: Punch down dough.

  • Step 10: Roll dough into two 12x7 inch rectangles and sprinkle with filling.

  • Step 11: Roll up, starting at the wide side. Pinch edge of rolls to seal well.

  • Step 12: Cut each roll into 15 slices and place on top of brown sugar mixture in pans

  • Step 13: Let rise until doubled.

  • Step 14: Bake at 375 for 25 to 30 minutes.

  • Step 15: Immediately turn pan upside down on a tray and let pan remain, allowing the butterscotch to drizzle over rolls.
