Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 package (1/4 ounce) active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup water, warm
  • 1/2 cup milk, warm
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 4 1/2 to 5 cups all-purpose flour
  • FOR ICING
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons grated orange peel
  • 4 tablespoons orange juice
  • 3 cups icing sugar

How to Make

  • Step 1: Dough:

  • Step 2: Dissolve yeast in Warm water

  • Step 3: Add milk, sugar, salt, eggs, shortening and 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour. Mix till smooth

  • Step 4: Add enough remaining dough to make dough easy to handle.

  • Step 5: Turn dough out onto a lightly floured, cloth covered surface and knead until smooth and elastic.

  • Step 6: Place dough in an oiled bowl, turning dough to coat in oil.

  • Step 7: Let rise, covered with a damp cloth, until doubled. approximately 1 hr.

  • Step 8: Punch down dough and divide

  • Step 9: Beat icing ingredients together until smooth and creamy

  • Step 10: Roll dough into two 12x7 inch rectangles and spread with half of the orange icing

  • Step 11: Roll up, starting at the wide side. Pinch edge of rolls to seal well

  • Step 12: Cut each roll into 12 slices and place in greased round pans.

  • Step 13: Let rise until doubled

  • Step 14: Bake at 375 for 25 to 30 minutes

  • Step 15: Frost with remaining icing while still warm
