Step 1: Grease loaf pan.
Step 2: In large bowl dissolve yeast in warm water.
Step 3: Add buttermilk, 2 1/2 cups of the flour, shortening, sugar, salt, baking powder and mix until well mixed.
Step 4: Add remaining flour and cornmeal, mix well. Dough should still be slightly sticky and soft.
Step 5: Turn dough onto well floured surface and knead 5 min.
Step 6: Roll dough into a rectangle, 18x9.
Step 7: Roll up dough into a log, beginning at short end, press each end to seal and fold under loaf.
Step 8: Place loaf in loaf pan, seam side down.
Step 9: Brush with butter and sprinkle with cornmeal.
Step 10: Let rise until double.
Step 11: Preheat oven to 425F and bake 30-35 minutes or until golden.
Step 12: Brush with butter and let cool.
