Step 1: In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in water.
Step 2: Add 2 tablespoons poppy seeds.
Step 3: Add shortening, sugar, salt and 2 cups flour, mix well.
Step 4: Add remaining flour and mix till smooth.
Step 5: Cover and let rise until double, roughly 30 min.
Step 6: Stir down batter and spread evenly in a greased loaf pan, smoothing out top by patting with floured hands.
Step 7: Sprinkle loaf with remaining poppy seeds.
Step 8: Cover and let rise till double, about 40 min.
Step 9: Heat oven to 375.
Step 10: Bake 45 min or until loaf sounds hollow when tapped.
Step 11: Brush top with melted butter.
