Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 100 grams dry orzo pasta (dry, 1 cup)
  • 1 yellow onion, diced (small onion)
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 200 grams dry long grain rice (dry, 1 cup)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric (heaping)
  • 4 cups chicken broth

How to Make

  • Step 1: Melt butter in a medium-sized saucepan/pot. Add orzo and cook until golden brown.

  • Step 2: Add onion and saute until onions become clear.

  • Step 3: Add garlic and saute for another minute or so.

  • Step 4: Add remaining ingredients and bring to a boil, stirring occasionally.

  • Step 5: When mixture comes to a boil, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 20-25 minutes or until liquid is absorbed.

  • Step 6: Remove from heat and remove lid. Let stand for a few minutes then fluff with a fork and serve!
