Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 4 squares (4 ounces) unsweetened chocolate
  • 3 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons corn syrup
  • 1 1/4 cups whole milk
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoons vanilla

How to Make

  • Step 1: Line an 8 inch square pan with foil and butter foil.

  • Step 2: Over very low heat, melt chocolate in pan.

  • Step 3: Add sugar, corn syrup, and milk.

  • Step 4: Increase heat to medium and cook, stirring constantly till the sugar dissolves. Wash sugar crystals from side of pan.

  • Step 5: Cook to the soft ball stage, or 238F on candy thermometer.

  • Step 6: Remove from heat, add butter but do not stir.

  • Step 7: Cool to 120F and add vanilla

  • Step 8: Beat until mixture begins to thicken and looses it's gloss.

  • Step 9: Quickly pour mixture into the pan and let cool

  • Step 10: Cut into squares and store in an airtight container
