Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 3/4 ounce butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 pounds brown onions (thinly sliced)
  • 1 cup wine (dry white)
  • 2 tablespoons brandy (optional)
  • 3 cups beef stock
  • 1 cup water
  • 4 thyme, sprigs
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons Italian parsley (finely chopped)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Add first 3 ingredients to the slow cooker and cook on low for 4 hours, stirring occasionally.

  • Step 2: Add wine, brandy, stock, water and thyme and cook on high another 2 hours.

  • Step 3: Season with salt and pepper.

  • Step 4: To serve, sprinkle with parsley and serve with crusty bread.
