Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • Broccoli (2 bunches)
  • 1 pound dry pasta shells
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon hot pepper flakes
  • 4 ounces ricotta cheese (1/2 cup)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Bring a large pot of water to a boil.

  • Step 2: Add salt.

  • Step 3: Meanwhile, separate broccoli florets from the stalks

  • Step 4: Add the broccoli to the boiling water and cook until tender but still bright green, about 5 minutes.

  • Step 5: Remove broccoli with slotted spoon.

  • Step 6: Add pasta and cook to desired doneness, 8-12 minutes.

  • Step 7: Drain reserving 1 cup of the pasta water.

  • Step 8: In a small skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and add garlic and hot pepper flakes.

  • Step 9: Saute until garlic is fragrant, about 1 minute.

  • Step 10: Add drained broccoli.

  • Step 11: Mix in ricotta cheese and pasta, until sauce is creamy.

  • Step 12: If sauce is too dry, add as much pasta water as desired to get a creamy consistency.
