Step 1: In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of flour, sugar, salt and dry yeast.
Step 2: Add milk and butter and stir until well incorporated.
Step 3: Stir in sourdough starter.
Step 4: Mix in flour a little at a time until dough is easy to work with
Step 5: Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 8 to 10 minutes.
Step 6: Place in a lightly greased bowl and turn once to coat. Cover with a damp cloth and allow to rise in a warm place until doubled in volume
Step 7: Punch dough to deflate and let rest for 15 minutes.
Step 8: Divide into two loaves and place on bread baking sheet. Allow to rise again until double in size
Step 9: Whisk egg into egg wash and brush over the tops of the loaves.
Step 10: Bake at 375°F for 30 minutes or until golden brown
