  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/2 cup light molasses
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/3 cups sour cream
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup nuts, finely chopped (nuts or 1/2 cup walnuts or 1/2 cup hazelnuts, your choice)
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon

How to Make

  • Step 1: Heat oven to 350 degrees F.

  • Step 2: Grease one 10" X 4" tube pan.

  • Step 3: Mix the brown sugar, nuts and cinnamon, set aside.

  • Step 4: Beat butter, sugar, eggs, vanilla, and molasses with an electric mixer for 2 minutes on medium.

  • Step 5: Combine flour, baking powder, soda and salt.

  • Step 6: Add the flour mixture and the sour cream alternately to the egg mixture until combined.

  • Step 7: Spread 1/3 of batter in pan.

  • Step 8: Sprinkle with 1/3 cinnamon-nut mixture, repeat twice.

  • Step 9: Bake 55-60 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
