  • 5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • FOR TOPPING
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 4 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup nuts, chopped
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • Garnish
  • 1/4 cup melted caramel

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 375.

  • Step 2: Grease pan.

  • Step 3: Combine topping ingredients until crumbly and put aside.

  • Step 4: Combine remaining ingredients and spread half of the batter in pan, and sprinkle 1/3 of the topping on batter.

  • Step 5: Top with remaining batter and sprinkle with half of remaining topping.

  • Step 6: Bake 30-40 minute in bunt pan, or until golden brown and toothpick when inserted comes out clean.

  • Step 7: When cake has cooled slightly, invert pan onto plat to remove cake.

  • Step 8: Drizzle with caramel.
