Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup chili sauce (Heinz, bottled)
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce (bottled hickory-flavored barbecue sauce)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 6 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 3 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon hot pepper sauce (tabasco)
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 3 3/4 to 4 pounds chicken thighs (12 thighs with skin and bones)

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a saucepan over medium heat bring first 10 ingredients (-mustard) to a boil, whisking to blend. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes.

  • Step 2: Spray grill rack with nonstick cooking spray and prepare barbecue to medium high heat.

  • Step 3: Sprinkle chicken with salt and pepper.

  • Step 4: Place chicken on grill, skin side down and cook until skin browns (8-10 minutes). Turn chicken over and continue grilling another 8-10 minutes or until chicken is cooked through.

  • Step 5: Transfer 1 cup barbecue sauce to a small dish and brush skin is of chicken with sauce; turn skin side down and cook for 2 minutes; brush with more sauce and turn skin side up and grill another 2 minutes.

  • Step 6: Arrange chicken on a platter and serve with remaining sauce.
