Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 cans (28 ounce) pork and beans
  • 1 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup yellow mustard
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1/4 cup dill pickle juice (juice from a jar of sweet dill pickles)
  • 1 yellow onion, sliced
  • 4 ounces sliced bacon (4 strips, halved crosswise)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

  • Step 2: Put the first 5 ingredients (-molasses) into a large ovenproof pot or a bean pot and stir to combine.

  • Step 3: Top mixture with onion slices and then lay the bacon over the top in a single layer.

  • Step 4: Bake, uncovered, until the bacon is crisp and the beans are hot and bubbling, about one hour.

  • Step 5: Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly.

  • Step 6: Stir the onions and bacon into the beans before serving.
