Step 1: Slit the franfurters length-wise from end to end. Cut deeply but not all the way through.
Step 2: Cut cheese so that it fits into the sausage and that you can distribute it evenly.
Step 3: Wrap the sausages with the bacon slices. Use toothpicks to hold the bacon, if necessary.
Step 4: Grill until golden and hot all the way through. Do not overcook or you will over-melt and lose your cheese.
Step 5: Serve with fries, potato salad, sauerkraut or sliced rye bread.
Step 6: Purists use mustard!
