Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 3/4 pound beef round (or flank steak)
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 3 cups broccoli, sliced (peeled, cut in 1x1 1/4" strips)
  • 3 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons oil (vegetable oil)
  • 1 cup yellow onion, sliced (wedge-cut)
  • 1 tablespoon minced ginger root
  • 1 tablespoon sherry
  • 2 tablespoons water

How to Make

  • Step 1: Trim fat from steak and slice meat into thin 1x¼" slices across the grain.

  • Step 2: Sprinkle with cornstarch and soy sauce. Mix and set aside.

  • Step 3: Bring water to a boil, add broccoli, stir. Bring to a boil again and cook 2 minutes. Drain immediately and set aside.

  • Step 4: Heat oil in large skillet until very hot. Add onion and ginger root and stir-fry about 30 seconds.

  • Step 5: Add meat and stir-fry about 2 minutes.

  • Step 6: Add broccoli, sherry, and water.

  • Step 7: Stir constantly until steaming, about 1 minute.

  • Step 8: Serve over rice.
