Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 6 ounces dry penne pasta (3 heaping cups of dry pasta, or a thinner rigatoni, Barilla brand has a good one, or could use fusilli)
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 yellow onion, chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder (mild)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Pepper (as to taste)
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce (your fav)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese (divided)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Heat oven to 350 F.

  • Step 2: Cook and drain pasta; rinse under cold water; drain well and set aside.

  • Step 3: In a skillet, cook beef until no longer pink. Drain fat. Add in onion, garlic, chili powder, salt and pepper and cook for around 3-4 minutes or until softened.

  • Step 4: Add the cooked pasta to the saucepan. Stir in 1/2 cup cheddar cheese and 1 cup mozzarella cheese. Spoon into a casserole dish. Sprinkle with remaining 1/2 cup of cheddar cheese.

  • Step 5: Bake uncovered for 30 to 40 minutes or until hot in the centre.
