Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 teaspoon oil (peanut oil)
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons grated ginger root (finely grated)
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried chilli flakes
  • 1/4 cup Chinese cooking wine
  • 2 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornflour
  • 400 grams broccoli, cut into florets
  • 200 grams snow peas (or sugar snap peas, topped and tailed)
  • 60 grams slivered almonds (toasted, to serve)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Heat oil in a wok over medium heat and add garlic, ginger and chilli and cook for 3 minutes.

  • Step 2: Add wine, soy sauce, 1/4 cup water and sesame oil and bring to a gentle boil.

  • Step 3: Blend cornflour with 1 tablespoon water until smooth and add to wok and simmer until sauce thickens slightly.

  • Step 4: Steam broccoli for 8 minutes or until tender and add peas and cook for a further 2 minutes.

  • Step 5: Add steamed vegetable to warm sauce and serve topped with toasted almonds.
