Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 1/4 cups caster sugar
  • 1 tablespoon caster sugar (extra)
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder (sifted)
  • 1 teaspoon cocoa powder (extra)
  • 125 grams butter, melted
  • 4 large eggs, lightly whisked
  • 100 grams almond meal (ground almonds)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 200C/180C fan forced.

  • Step 2: Grease and line a 26cm x 16cm (base measurement) slice pan with baking paper, extending paper at long sides for handles.

  • Step 3: Combine sugar and cocoa powder in a heatproof bowl and then add butter and eggs and mix well and then stir in almond meal until combined.

  • Step 4: Pour mixture into prepared pan and level surface and bake for 20 minutes or until a skewer inserted at centre comes out with crumbs clinging (don't over cook).

  • Step 5: Cool completely in pan (brownies will firm).

  • Step 6: Sprinkle brownie with extra sugar and dust with extra cocoa powder and then cut into 16 squares to serve.
