Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Step 2: Whisk together cake mix, oil, eggs, and pumpkin pie spice in a large bowl until smooth, then refrigerate until firm - at lest 30 minutes or overnight.
Step 3: Roll dough into 1" balls and coat thoroughly in powdered sugar (do not shake off excess sugar). Place on an ungreased cookie sheet, about 2" apart.
Step 4: Bake until cookies are puffed and cracked, about 12 minutes. Cool completely and store any leftovers in an airtight container.
