Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 11 ounces sweetened condensed milk (1 cup)
  • 4 ounces ice cream (vanilla, 1 cup)
  • 6 egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup lime juice (genuine key lime]

  • 6 egg whites
  • 1 tablespoon cream of tartar
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 ounce graham pie crust (1 crust)

How to Make

  • FOR THE FILLING

  • Step 1: Add yolks to condensed milk and beat 8 minutes.

  • Step 2: Add ice cream and beat until well mixed.

  • Step 3: Add key lime juice and mix well. Fold into pie shell.

  • Step 4: Place in freezer until well set.

  • FOR THE TOPPING

  • Step 5: While pie sets beat 6 egg whites with cream of tartar for 5 minutes.

  • Step 6: Add 1 cup of sugar and whip until meringue makes peaks when beater is removed from mixture. Add to top of pie

  • Step 7: Brown in 350◦ oven, then cool in refrigerator for 15 or more minutes for a regular pie, or in the freezer for an hour if it is frozen key lime pie, this does not hold well serve immediately.
