The ingredients are:
  • 5 cups cubed bread (from day old bread)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons butter, softened
  • FOR TOPPING
  • 4 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly butter an 7×11 inch baking pan.

  • Step 2: Line bottom of pan with bread cubes.

  • Step 3: In a large bowl, beat together eggs, milk, 2 tablespoons sugar, salt and vanilla. pour egg mixture over bread. Dot with 3 tablespoons butter; let stand for 10 minutes.

  • Step 4: For topping: Combine 4 tablespoons sugar with 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon, then sprinkle over the top. Bake in preheated oven about 45 to 50 minutes, until top is golden.
