Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 2 pounds shrimp (large uncooked, peeled and deveined)
  • 1 yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 6 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 1/2 cup sherry (or white wine)
  • 1 lemon, whole (rind only grated)
  • 1 bottle (8 ounce) clam juice
  • 1/2 cup whipping cream
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil

How to Make

  • Step 1: Cook pasta in boiling water according to package directions; drain.

  • Step 2: In a skillet over medium high heat melt the butter and then add the shrimp; sprinkle with salt and pepper and basil. Saute for 2 minutes or until pink; using a slotted spoon transfer to a medium bowl.

  • Step 3: Add onions, green pepper and garlic to skillet and saute another minute. Stir in sherry (or wine) and lemon peel; boil until reduced -- only a few minutes. Stir in clam juice and cream; boil until sauce thickens (8-10 minutes). Return shrimp and juices to skillet. Add pasta; toss and season with salt and pepper and basil (if using fresh basil).
