Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 8 slices (240 grams) white bread
  • 1/2 cup low-fat cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1 leg (80 grams) ham (chopped)
  • Spinach leaves (12 baby leaves)
  • 1 large egg, lightly whisked
  • 1 large egg, lightly whisked (extra to brush)
  • 1/4 cup skim milk
  • 20 grams margarine (reduced-fat)
  • Tomato sauce, to serve (ketchup), optional

How to Make

  • Step 1: Using a serrated knife trim crusts from bread.

  • Step 2: Scatter cheese over one half of each bread slice and top with ham and spinach.

  • Step 3: Brush edges of bread slices with extra beaten egg and fold each slice over to form a triangle and press edges together to seal.

  • Step 4: Whisk egg and milk in a bowl until combined.

  • Step 5: Heat margarine in a large frying pan over moderate heat.

  • Step 6: Working quickly, dip triangles, one by one in egg mixture, being careful not to over-soak triangles in egg mixture or they will become soggy.

  • Step 7: Add the triangles to the pan and cook, in batches, for 2 minutes each side or until browned.

  • Step 8: Serve with tomato sauce.
