Step 1: In a saucepan over medium heat bring the sugar and 1/2 cup water to a boil; stirring until sugar dissolves. Cool mixture (***can be made two weeks ahead; cover and chill)
Step 2: In a bowl whisk the whipping cream until peaks form; set aside.
Step 3: Place cardamom seeds in cocktail shaker; mash seeds with a wooden spoon handle. Add 2 tablespoons simple syrup, vodka, triple sec and lemon juice to shaker; shake well.
Step 4: Fill 2 old-fashioned glasses with ice cubes; divide drink between glasses. Spoon dollop of whipped cream atop each drink; garnish with mint sprigs and serve.
