  • 2 pounds boneless beef chuck roast (coarsely ground)
  • 1 can (29 ounce) tomato sauce
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup chili powder (plus 2 tablespoons)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons dried Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground red pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 can (30 ounce) chili beans (drained)
  • 2 tablespoons white cornmeal
  • 2 tablespoons water

How to Make

  • Step 1: Cook ground chuck in a Dutch oven until browned; stirring to crumble; drain. Add tomato sauce and the next 9 ingredients. Bring to a boil; cover, reduce heat, and simmer 1 hour and 15 minutes.

  • Step 2: Add beans, stirring well. Combine cornmeal and 2 tablespoons water; add to the chili mixture, stirring well.

  • Step 3: Cover; simmer 15 minutes or until thoroughly heated.
