Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef (I often use a mix of ground beef and lean ground pork)
  • 2 medium yellow onions (chopped)
  • 1 garlic clove, minced (I usually omit the garlic)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 can (14 ounce) tomato sauce (may sub with tomato soup)
  • 14 ounces water
  • 93 grams dry long grain rice (dry, 1/2 cup)
  • 4 cups cabbage, shredded (or 4 cups sauerkraut)

How to Make

  • Step 1: In large pan brown ground beef,onions and garlic, add tomato sauce and water.

  • Step 2: Bring to a boil and stir in the rice.

  • Step 3: Cover and simmer 20 minutes

  • Step 4: In a greased casserole or baking dish place half the shredded cabbage on bottom, add half the rice mixture

  • Step 5: Repeat layers.

  • Step 6: Cover and bake in a 350 oven for 1 hour.
