  • The following recipe serves 12 people.

Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 quarts finely shredded green cabbage
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • Dressing:
  • 2 cups good mayonnaise (I use Hellmans)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon grated onions (I most often use 1/2 tablespoon of dry onion)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 tablespoon prepared horseradish (optional)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Mix all the ingredients for the dressing and set aside.

  • Step 2: Shred the cabbage and carrots; I sometime then take a hand chopper and chop it up a little more as I like it a little finer.

  • Step 3: Add the dressing to the cabbage and carrots till you have the moisture that you like--it tightens up a little as it sits. (If you think it is dry, I sometimes add a little milk to make it wetter.)

  • Step 4: Refrigerate for aabout 2 hours to blend the flavors.
