Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 7 to 8 ounces dry rice, (white long grain, uncooked 1 cup)
  • 8 ounces broccoli (finely chopped, 2 cups)
  • 1 cup yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 2 cups water (or broth, boiling)
  • Salt, to taste

How to Make

  • Step 1: Heat the butter and olive oil in a medium pot, add the onion and fry gently until translucent. Add the garlic and cook for another minute.

  • Step 2: Add the rice, stir to coat with the oil and then add the water and salt. Cover and cook for 7-10 minutes stirring occasionally.

  • Step 3: When the rice is just about cooked, add the broccoli and mix well. Cook for another 3-5 minutes, stirring with a fork to keep the rice fluffy.
