Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1/4 cup olive oil (Portuguese if possible)
  • 1 large yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon pimenta moida (or more to taste)
  • 1/2 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 cup fresh parsley, chopped (1 full bunch)
  • 2 cans (30 ounces) fava beans (NOT drained, Portuguese brand if possible, 15 ounce each can)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Put the oil in a pan and let it heat up. Add onions and saute.

  • Step 2: Add in Pimenta Moida and paprika. Saute for a minute to let the flavors develop, then add the favas.

  • Step 3: Add the parsley. You can leave the parsley bunch unchopped and just place it on top of the favas, or stir it in if using chopped parsley.

  • Step 4: Simmer for 45 minutes or more. The longer they cook, the better they taste!
